“Beauty Secrets: 150 Years of History in One Quilt Pattern” is the life story of a classic American quilt pattern. The exhibit and accompanying catalog explore the New York Beauty quilt throughout time. These remarkable quilts tell the story of quilt history and American history. Bill Volckening’s collection of New York Beauty quilts includes close to 50 examples, mostly quilts and a few tops, plus ephemera. In the summer of 2011, the Benton County Museum in Philomath, Oregon, exhibited 21 of the quilts as part of the biennial Quilt County. The exhibit drew a record number of visitors.
